Foundational Coach Training

FastTrack Coach Academy is the only coach training program featuring a Character Coaching approach. Research demonstrates that it’s who you are, more than what you know, that influences success: yours, your clients’ and your company or organization’s. Character Coaching combined with a Positive Psychology orientation describe FastTrack's conceptual platform.

FastTrack’s Foundational Coach Training provides the knowledge and practice you need for private practice or working as an internal coach in an organization. You will learn the core coaching competencies needed to coach confidently across both life and business coaching contexts. FastTrack’s Foundational Coach Training meets the International Coach Federation’s (ICF) requirements for certification as an Level 1 coach.  FastTrack coach training is delivered in English.

Using a webinar platform, this course explores the eleven ICF Core Coaching Competencies detailed below.

FastTrack covers each of ICF's 8 Core Coaching Competencies in depth:

  2. Embodies a Coaching Mindset
  3. Establishes and Maintains Agreements
  4. Cultivates Trust and Safety
  5. Maintains Presence
  6. Listens Actively
  7. Evokes Awareness
  8. Facilitates Client Growth

The first hour of class is discussion-based and highly participatory. The second hour is devoted to practice coaching and feedback. Between classes, students are expected to read the upcoming week’s class notes and other assigned reading, participate in weekly peer coaching, and complete the field work.

The FastTrack program is highly interactive and includes:

  • 24 hours of discussion about the ICF Core Coaching Competencies
  • 24 hours of practice coaching, including feedback from trainers & participants from 48 in-class coaching sessions
  • 24 online "Coaching Quizzes" that correspond to each of the 24 topic-oriented classes
  • 6 two-hour Goup Mentor Coaching Sessions with feedback
  • 3 one-on-one video-recorded Observed Coaching Sessions with feedback
  • 2 in-class Observed Coaching Sessions with feedback
  • 3 one-to-one mentor coaching sessions
  • 2 coaching assessments
  • A Character Coaching & Positive Psychology orientation
  • A final "coaching performance" event that demonstrates the participant's coaching skill at the ACC level.  The 24 Coaching Quizzes mentioned above constitute the "written" exam and are preparation for the participant to successfully pass ICF's Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) exam.

Learning Objectives

By the completion of the 60 hour FastTrack Foundational Coach Training course, participants will:

  • Learn the 8 International Coach Federation (ICF) core competencies in depth
  • Practice coaching and being coached (becoming sensitive to the experience of the client)
  • Learn how the coaching skill set is used in business 
  • Apply coaching practices to their work and lives
  • Understand and embody the ethics of the coaching profession as defined by ICF
  • Have a deeper understanding of coaching philosophies, models and evidence-based theories 
  • Develop an array of coaching tools, techniques, and strategies
  • Be familiar with and committed to the ethical standards of the coaching profession
  • Be able to identify what “is not being said”
  • Determine who is “coachable” and know when to refer a client to other professionals
  • Understand the difference between coaching and other professions (e.g., therapy, counseling, consulting)
  • Recognize that who you are is just as important as what you know

Nuts and Bolts:

  • Students will need access to high speed internet to participate in the course.
  • Tuition includes individual one-on-one mentor coaching with feedback on participants’ growth as a coach.
